So you're in a school and you have $9000 to spend. Do you get 30 iPad 1s, 22 iPad 2s, or 18 new ipads?

Re: I’ve been hacked and you can learn from my mistakes. :-)

An update: I just did a fresh install of WP 3.2.1, and it asks you what username you want to use as the admin user, it doesn't default to admin, which I thought was a nice touch!

Re: I’ve been hacked and you can learn from my mistakes. :-)

Huh. I would have thought you would have to hack core to move wp-config.php, but it looks like they've already coded (in wp-load.php) for the possibility that it may be one directory up. So much for my comment about this being detrimental to the automatic update process...

Re: I’ve been hacked and you can learn from my mistakes. :-)

That would be a lot simpler! This page in the Wordpress Codex explains how to use it to reset a password, but the process is the same to change the login userid.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Res...

Thanks for sharing these great suggestions. I love the new MBA, and, as an added plus, I found out today that the TSA says it does not have to be taken out of the bag during security screening! Apparently, it meets their size limit for netbooks and the SSD helps, too, I am sure!

I do notice the hinge is a little loose...actually the screen half seems to weigh more than the keyboard half, so, if you push the screen backward too far, it actually feels almost top-heavy and wants to "tip over" backward. However, I have only noticed that when using it on my lap...not when on a table or desk.

It is SO fast and does everything extremely well! I would suggest, for anyone considering one, to at least spring for the 4GB RAM. I bought the same model as Ryan and do not regret it at all.

My work laptop, a unibody 13'3" MBP, is sitting around, feeling forlorn and abandoned.....

Re: FIrst impressions of the MacBook Air 11″

The MacBook Pro 13" is only .27" thicker (at the Air's thickest point) and the same width and depth. Weight may be a problem at 1.4lbs heavier (the same total weight as carrier the MBA 13" and an iPad though). But with the MBP you get 1000mbit ethernet, firewire, and an optical drive, plus an option for 8GB of RAM. I know people say that specs don't really matter, but personally, it would be hard for me to justify the additional cost ($1,399 for a 4GB MBA vs $1,199 for a 4GB MBP). The only reason I spent the additional money is that I wanted something as portable as possible, and it seems like the 11" fits the bill (now if it could only be more narrow!).

A plus for the 13" MBA is that it does have a higher resolution than the 13" MBP.

I know that you travel a lot, so maybe the extra weight would make the MBA worth it (I do notice how much lighter my backpack feels with the 11" MBA vs. my old MacBook, but there is a difference of 2.9 pounds between the two).

Re: FIrst impressions of the MacBook Air 11″

Great review, Ryan, thanks.

I don't have external monitors so I was considering the 13" MBA. Why are you recommending people consider the MB Pro if they are concerned with screen size and looking at the 13" MBA?

Re: FIrst impressions of the MacBook Air 11″

I haven't noticed the hinge being loose, but then I tend to grab the top and bottom if I'm moving it. I just tried it, and it does move though, so it will be something I'm going to have to keep an eye on.

The laptop format isn't as nice as the tablet format is, especially when you want to show somebody something. Even though the MBA is more cumbersome than the iPad, I'm seriously thinking of selling my iPad (which I haven't used since I got the MBA).

Re: FIrst impressions of the MacBook Air 11″

I agree. I'm loving my 11" as well. I do have one con though. I think the screen hinge is too loose. I know people like that you can lift it with a finger, but I hate that it moves when I pick up the computer to move it or show someone something. It fall all the way back. I wish I could make it tighter, and I'm hoping it doesn't get looser over time.

Re: My Apple Event predictions

Apple buys Facebook???

Re: Goodreader app now supports annotating PDFs

GoodReader is the first app I purchased for the iPad.
CONCLUSION...
AnilVT is correct. All that code does is tell you the last modifed date of this file downloaded into your browser's cache directory - In my/this case Firefox v3.6.3.

Incidentally, all of the above is what you can already achieve via Firefox's 'Right Click>View Page Info>See modified info'.

SOLUTION...
In my opinion this is the ONE THING THAT I.E. IS GOOD FOR...
One solution I've found so far is to open the desired webpage in I.E. > then view the Browser's actual downloaded files directory. There you can see the true Modifed Date of that File + the Last Accessed Date (your downloaded date).

Internet Explorer example:
IE>Tools>Internet Options>General Tab>Browsing History 'settings'>View Files.

The location should be something like... C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Firefox Example:
Unless I'm just unaware, I find Firefox a let down with this; the file names are confusing and not much use.

To learn where your Firefox is storing web cache...
Copy&Paste this into your Firefox addressbar: about:cache

You should be able to see the location of your Firefox's stored Cache - something like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\uifll7vx.default\Cache

Though, I think you'll find once there - Firefox file names are confusing and not much use.

Hope the my comments help you!
Steve Walters, Small Business Helper Limited.

Re: Google Teacher Academy for Administrators Video

Unfortunately I didn't get accepted...
